In the time honoured tradition of fooling your friends (and customers) on April 1st, the people at Google have come up with their own joke today. They have launched the “Google Wakeup Kit!”.
The wakeup kit promises to ensure that you will get out of bed in the morning for your important meetings. The wakeup kit is a staged process with progressively more annoying alerts to wake you up. First an SMS is sent alerting you that it is time to rise and shine. If this fails a bucket automatically connected to the water mains is a less subtle approach followed by an automatic bed flipping device.
An unusual 3 way collaboration between the Daily Telegraphy, Daily Mirror and the BBC resulted in a great April fool – a news video featured prominently on their websites recently evolved flying penguins. These little birds can migrate all the way to South America!
In another noteworthy April fool, the Guardian newspaper was only slightly more subtle with its April 1st news, reporting that Gordon Brown has recruited France’s first lady as the style advisor of Britain.
